Race training of some kind continues

Hi there.  It’s been a couple of weeks since my less-than-successful 15 mile run.  I’ve had a long time to think and learn from the experience.

The good news is that I haven’t stopped running!  I’m still running 2 – 4 times per week.  I haven’t been faithful to the marathon training program but I’ve generally been running between 3 – 5 miles for most runs and still running a longer run or two.

Having said that, my longest run in the past 2 – 3 weeks has been just under 10 miles, a great outside run.  I also enjoyed a relatively warm five mile run a few days ago – the temperature was at least 10 ºC, which is a big deal in this part of the world during this time of the year (especially this year…)

I’ve pretty much resigned myself to run the half-marathon at the Fredericton Marathon in about five weeks, which, to be honest, was my original plan a few months ago.  Between family obligations and having cut back on my training a bit, I won’t be in a position to run the full marathon in May.

So, my current plan is to run 3 half-marathons and 1 full marathon in 2015, plus some shorter races where I can fit them in.

I still have a long term goal of running the Boston Marathon someday, preferably before I turn 50.  But I’ve still got time.

Having said all that, I plan to start running longer distances on weekends again.  Fortunately, the weather is just going to keep getting better so I should have to worry about the cold again.

There’s also been some fun events with my local running club, one of which I’ll talk about in my next blog post!
